2 Things People Want To Know In A Book Review. Writing a book review can be a real struggle for some people. Especially those who don’t know how to put their thoughts into words. And for me, I always have a hard time creating my own book review. It’s not that I don’t understand the book, but I have no idea what am I supposed to write.
So I usually end up writing back the blurbs in depths. You know, instead of letting people know why I enjoy the book, I give them a summary of the entire book. As I think back about this, I come up with these 2 things that make sense for all of us. This is based on my thoughts and opinions so if you have any other tips that work for you, do leave it in the comment below!
So what are these two things people want to know in the book review?
Now let put yourself in someone else’s shoes or think yourself as someone who’s gonna buy a bunch of books today. When you search for a book review, what exactly do you want to find? đ§ A sneak peek of the characterâs personality? The exciting part? The bad part that makes people DNF the book? Or the one that going to inspire us?
Of course, the answer will absolutely be these two.
- What makes you love the book?
- Why do you highly recommend the book?
Think of it this way. People doesnât want to know the summary. Nor how the story goes. They can obviously read it from the blurbs, right? What they want to know is why you enjoy the book and is the book worth buying or not. So instead of telling them what’s going on in the book, tell them your answers for those questions!
You can do a simple summary of course. But not writing it in depths. Share about why you love the characters, what pissed you off, what excites you, what makes you scream etc. Put along with the evidence (the simple summary) taken from the book. And voila! It will be an interesting book review!
I hope this helps you and me writing a better book review so we can help the author to write more exciting literature next time. Our opinions could be their ideas for their next book, perhaps! â„ïžâ
