Scars Like Wings Synopsis

But when Ava meets a fellow survivor named Piper, she begins to feel like maybe she doesn’t have to face the nightmare alone. Scars Like Wings by Erin Stewart Review
I really think this book really helps when it comes to encouraging ‘broken’ people to find themselves back. Letting them know that they are not alone and that the world isn’t end for them yet is such a great move. I absolutely understands that its not easy to start the different life all over again. Especially when your physical does not look the same anymore.
Like Ava, the burden is extremely hard for her to endure. Losing everything she has totally shattered her into pieces that she thinks that things wont be the same for her again. She starts to isolate herself. She thinks that her skin and her face is disgusting that she doesn’t event want to look in the mirror. People is afraid of her and kids addressing her as a monster. That would breaks me too, really.
But gladly her aunt and her uncle is being supportive enough and never leave her alone. They try to persuade Ava to blend into the world again, to be confident again, to be normal again. I really agree where the author writes “seek therapy even you know it won’t fix anything.” At least people in the therapy group will help you mentally even though they cant fix what happen to you physically. That really doesn’t matter when you have such a strong mental and don’t give up easily.
And I really, really like Piper. She has the best spirit among all despite the pain she keeps for herself. Its true when people said broken people trying to make people happy because they know how hurt it is to feel pain. We all need someone like Piper! I’m really glad Erin create such a vibrant and brave character like Piper!
What I can conclude from the book is, when life destroyed you before you even dead, keep fighting for that life again. Never simply give up and try to find yourself again. The world still has more to offer for normal people and to those who thinks they are not normal anymore. Try seek therapy and surround yourself with people who will help you to fly again. Be sad or be happy, we always have the choice. We create our own happiness!
I really want to read more books like Scars Like Wings by Erin Stewart so I can share them with fellow friends who is suffering from the same tragedy like Ava and Piper!
