Well, let me share with you a few tips on when to annotate your book! This will help you with writing a good book review! Keep reading to know more than what has been mentioned in the photo.
🟢 Stop & jot down when you learned something new about the character.
The character’s personality and trait are often very important when you write a book review. It helps you elaborate more about why you love the book you have read.
🔵 Stop & jot down when you feel disagree with something.
You might have a distinct opinion or perspective about something with the author so you are allowed to state your own words to make you feel better about the book.
🟡 Stop & jot down when something important happens.
It doesn’t have to be the climax part. You need to stop and take time to know what is important things you need to tell people. But be careful, no spoiler. Try putting the words into a hint to make people curious to know about it.
🟣 Stop & jot down when you encounter a strong feeling or reaction.
I think your expression towards the book gonna make you write a better book review. Did the character make your heart flutter? Did you scream? Did you cry when someone died in the book? Did you curse when the character is being foolish? Pour it all out in your book review so people will be wondering what makes you feel that way.
🔴 Stop & jot down when something give you a spark or making you reflect and questioning yourself.
When a line is somehow related to you, you can share the text and squeeze your own experience to show that the book got something valuable to you.
